Arab League to discuss investment in Iraq Sunday

Cairo, The Secretary General of the Council of Economic Unity of the Arab League on Thursday, the Arab Committee for the development of investment in the Arab countries will be discussed next Sunday, the topic of investment in Iraq in order to encourage Arab investors to enter the Iraqi market.

Said Mohamed Spring Kurdistan News Agency (Rn) "The Economic Unity Council of the League of Arab States seeks to increase investment in Iraq by Arab investors," noting that "Iraq is a breeding ground for investment and reconstruction."

The spring that "This trend is part of the efforts of the Economic Unity Council in the quest for the development of investments in the Arab region, and will provide the Secretariat introduced the files to invest in Arab countries, which contain what could be invested in Iraq, to find out what type of investments available."

He pointed out that "the Secretariat of the Council will present information and data on investment opportunities in Iraq on its own, to allow investors to see it."

The spring that "the aim of the meeting of the Committee is to promote investment opportunities map investment and address obstacles to investment and seek to remove them and rounding of the investment laws in the Arab countries", pointing out that "has been in this framework agreements Arabic for the promotion and protection of Arab investments and the movement of capital between Arab countries and to settle Investment Disputes in the Arab countries.

Spring said that "among the items to be discussed are the United Arab visa to facilitate the movement of businessmen and investors from the Arabs and the implementation and the establishment of the Arab Holding Company for Investment Services."

It is noteworthy that Iraq is a member of the Council of Economic Unity of the six other Arab countries.

There are no accurate statistics about the volume of Arab investment in Iraq, but observers believe that the presence of Aqsaddein Arab companies in Iraq is small compared with those overseas.

Iraq seeks to attract investment into the country to contribute to the reconstruction of the country which suffered from neglect and vandalism throughout the long years of siege and war.

But such efforts are in fact the precarious security in the country, which raises the fears of the investment companies to enter the Iraqi market.
