Fort Riley brigade heading to Iraq
Fort Riley, Kan. — Soldiers from Fort Riley's 1st Infantry Division are scheduled to deploy to Iraq next month for a year.
The soldiers are from the division's 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team. Their mission, starting in November, will be to assist Iraqi leaders and citizens in establishing security.
A deployment ceremony is scheduled Friday at King Field House on the northeast Kansas post.
The soldiers recently finished training for the mission at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, La.
