Iraq's new government capable of shouldering responsibility: Maliki

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki said Wednesday that Iraq's new government which would be established soon should be capable of shouldering responsibilities, Egypt's state-run MENA news agency reported.

"We are at the end of the road and if God allows, the new government will see the light of the day soon," al-Maliki said in a press conference following a meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

"Definitely, our goal is to form a strong and consistent government that represents all Iraqi people. If we want to form a government within the context of the number of parliament seats only, we could have done this long time ago, but we want to form a government capable of taking up its responsibilities," al-Maliki was quoted by Cairo-based MENA news agency as saying.

The new government, he said, will be "a government of partnership and real representation so that none of the components of the Iraqi society would feel it is excluded from it."
