10/23/2010Iraqi meeting prepares road map for talks of political factions
IRBIL, Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and member of the Kurdistan Alliance, Roj Nouri Shawis said on Saturday that a road map for a meeting of all Iraqi political factions has been set.
After attending a meeting which included Iraqi President Jalal Talabani and Iraqi Kurdistan region President Masoud Barzani at the Cabinet building of the Kurdistan region, Shawis told reporters that the need to reach a solution through an agreement regarding the Iraqi political situation was stressed.
If there was any closeness of viewpoints between Kurdistani factions and their Iraqi counterparts, he said, they were very close.
"We are also very close to the Iraqi Council of Representatives and the Iraqi List to some extent, but this still needs efforts to reach this level with other sides," he added.
He noted that the meeting had set a road map for this through the initiative of Barzani, which calls for a meeting of all of Iraq's political faction leaders.
Vice President and leading Iraqi Islamic Supreme Council member Adel Abdulmehdi had head of the Iraqi List Iyad Allawi had both arrived in Irbil late on Friday, and are expected to hold talks on the issue today with Kurdistan region President Barzani.
