10/5/2010Baghdad, Washington to sign agreement on protecting classified military data
BAGHDAD, The Iraqi government said Tuesday that it entrusted the Ministry of Defense of signing an agreement with the US on protecting secret military data.
Iraqi government spokesperson Ali Al-Dabbagh said in a statement that the cabinet approved in a meeting today to give the Iraqi Minister of Defense the powers of negotiating and signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in field of protecting secret military data between the Iraqi Ministry of Defense and the Pentagon.
Al-Dabbagh pointed out that the signing will be based on the Iraqi constitution, noting that the accord will include an item that provides for the right of each party to annul it after giving a notice to the other party prior to three months of its expiry.
However, Al-Dabbagh did not disclose further details on the accord.
