Arab League prepares to receive Maliki

Cairo, The General Assistant of the Arab League Secretary confirmed on Tuesday that preparations are taking place in the Arab League to set a date to meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, who will visit Cairo on Wednesday.

Ahmed Ben Helli, the assistant of the general secretary of the Arab League told AKnews that "Nuri al-Maliki visit was received by the Arab League as it received also other Iraqi officials during the current month, which began with Ayad Allawi, the head of Al- Iraqiya List and Ammar al-Hakim, the head of the Supreme Council as well as others".

"What concerns the Arab League is the formation of the Iraqi government, Iraqi people stability and achieving the national reconciliation in Iraq, these issues will be discussed with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.

Maliki finished on Sunday a visit to Jordan in which he met King of Jordan , Abdullah II and senior officials, in the framework of his tour which started by visiting Syria then Iran.

Observers believe that Maliki's round in the Arab and regional States aims to "assure" them if he served as prime minister for a second term, but his electoral coalition, "state of law" has denied this and confirmed that the visits are not related to the formation of the government crisis.
