UN's, Ban Ki-moon, tells Talabani that Iraq must comply to int'l standards: must have a gov't and must implement all obligations relating to Kuwait

Ban Ki-moon expresses concern for Talabani to the permanent membership of the delay in forming the Iraqi government

BAGHDAD (Iba) / follow / .. hold the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in New York talks with President Jalal Talabani discussed the latest developments in Iraq and the Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations and obligations of Iraq, particularly with regard to item VII of the Charter of the United Nations.

The Office of the Secretary-General said in a statement late Alkhamisin Secretary General expressed his hope that the implementation by Iraq of all its obligations, especially those relating to the State of Kuwait at the same time stressing the commitment of the United Nations to help Iraq and Kuwait to develop their relationship within this framework.

In terms of political developments in Iraq, Talabani expressed Moon concern of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council not to make significant progress in terms of forming a new government in Iraq after more than six months after the holding of parliamentary elections.

The Secretary-General to continue the five permanent members of the Security Council support for the UN mission to help Iraq, UNAMI, and commitment to help Iraq, especially in the political sphere, human rights and humanitarian aid and reconstruction.

And Ban had met earlier on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the United Nations and the foreign ministers of the five permanent Security Council members who have renewed the importance of Iraq's compliance with international standards, which was committed before the adoption of UN Security Council resolution No. 661 in the sixth month of August 1990, which impose sanctions on the Iraqi regime because of its invasion of Kuwait in the second of August 1990.
