Welcomed the official source at the Syrian Foreign Ministry today the signing of the minutes of the meeting which took place in Damascus late last August between the ministries of oil from Syria and Iraq on the transfer of crude oil and gas in Iraq to the Mediterranean coast through Syrian territory.
The source expressed in a press statement about his country welcomed the signing of the record, which includes also take advantage of the capabilities available in existing oil transport system, as well as take advantage of the system of transporting and processing gas currently exist in Syria.
He said that this important step contributing to the development of relations between the two countries and is active in economic cooperation between them for the interests of both peoples.
The meetings will be held technical committees in Damascus during the next few days.
Baghdad had signed with Damascus in August of 2007 an agreement to restart the pipeline from Iraq's Kirkuk and Banias after qualifying in Iraqi territory and building reservoirs on both sides of the border to exchange oil products between the two countries.

Iraq to transfer oil & gas to EU through Syria
Syria (Damascus) - Iraq to start transferring crude oil & gas to Mediterranean countries through Syria, Global Arab Network learned.
Syria welcomes the signature of the Minutes of meeting between the Syrian and Iraqi Ministries of Oil which took place in Damascus on shipping the Iraqi crude oil and gas to the Mediterranean coast through the Syrian territories, State-run Syrian news agency reports according to an official source.
The minutes also includes taking the advantage of the capabilities available in the system of transferring oil, and the system of transporting and treating gas currently existing in Syria as well.
" This important step would contribute in developing the relations between the two countries and further activate the joint economic cooperation between them in the interest of the two brotherly peoples," the sources said.
The technical committees' meetings will be held in Damascus during the next few days.
