Sudan - Arab League Lauds Qatar Role for Solving Darfur Issue
Egypt (Cairo) - The Arab League Council, which started its 134th session, praised Qatar's constructive efforts aimed at solving the Darfur crisis and bringing together the Darfuri parties, reports QNA.
Presiding over the session, Iraq's permanent representative to the Arab League Dr. Qais Al Azzawi, said '' we appreciate the Qatari efforts that target bringing about the Darfuri parties'', noting at the same time to the framework agreements that were reached during the Doha talks in order to end the conflict in the troubled region.
Al Azzawi, whose country is currently chairing the council's session, asserted Iraq's keenness to support the Arab efforts and to be an effective partner in the joint Arab action, referring to the upcoming Arab summit due in Baghdad, which the Iraqis and Arabs are hopeful about as it might help achieving their goals and aspirations.
He also called for adopting an Arab strategy based on a genuine partnership between all Arab nations and a unified position towards all Arab issues. (QNA)
