Political powers determined to form new govt., VP tells Saudi monarch
BAGHDAD, Iraqi Vice-President Tareq al-Hashimi told King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia that the delayed formation of the new Iraqi government was a “temporary” state caused by internal and external elements.
“Vice President Hashimi reiterated that all political blocs are determined to form the government as soon as possible,” according to a statement by Hashimi’s office as received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Hashimi had arrived in Saudi Arabia on Friday afternoon on a visit upon an invitation by King Abdullah to perform an umra (lesser pilgrimage).
The Iraqi vice president and the Saudi monarch discussed during a meeting bilateral relations between the two countries as well as developments in Iraq.
