9/19/2010Iraq VP says Iraqiya List seeks genuine partnership to running security file
BAGHDAD, Iraqi Vice-President Tareq Al-Hashimi said Sunday his Iraqiya List was determined to carry out with reforms and to achieve a genuine partnership in power-sharing and decision-making.
"The most important factor facing the political parties today is lack of trust and the widening of conflict which already exists ... thus complicating the ongoing negotiations," Al-Hashimi said during a meeting with Commander of the US Forces in Iraq Lieutenant-General Lloyd Austin and US Ambassador in Baghdad James Jeffrey.
Al-Hashimi was quoted by a statement of his office as saying the Iraqiya List, which won the March 7 elections with 91 seats, sought true partnership in the administration of the security file in order to address the growing violence and human rights violations.
Jeffrey called for holding direct dialogues between leaders of the political forces to ultimately form an inclusive government of national unity capable of facing security and economic challenges.
