Chairman Mam Jalal calls the Socialist International to support the Iraqi people to overcome obstacles

Attended by His Excellency President Jalal Talabani yesterday afternoon, Monday, 20/9/2010 , at the United Nations building in New York, at a meeting of Socialist International as Vice President of the Organization.

The meeting was attended by George Papandreou, leader of the Socialist International and the UN secretary-general Luis Ayala , leaders and representatives of the member parties of the Socialist International.

And highlighted President Talabani during his address at the meeting, highlighted a number of current substantive issues , noting the importance of elections in Iraq, and the findings of the political blocs of discussions on efforts to form a partnership government and national associations representing the entire Iraqi spectrum varied .

The President of the Republic to the Iraqi government and signed an oil and gas agreements with a number of countries in the world , stressing that Iraq has started to regain its role and impact by strengthening relations with neighboring countries and the region and the world.

He also called on His Excellency the Socialist International to support the Iraqi people to overcome the obstacles that impede the march of democracy and development , to achieve stability, peace and prosperity in Iraq.

And President Talabani, in his speech the importance of building ties of friendship between Iraq and Turkey as well as the development of relations between Turkey and the Kurdistan Region, he expressed his welcome and delight recent democratic developments in Turkey , describing them on the job through the deepening of the democratic process in the region.

And to stop him during his speech at a range of issues specific to the Middle East, particularly Arab-Israeli conflict and Iraq's position on them.

This is discussed by the leaders and representatives of the member parties of the Socialist International at the meeting a number of central issues such as economic problems and the fight against poverty , unemployment and women's rights , globalization and the fight against terrorism, as well as discuss the necessary mechanisms to develop and activate the role of the Organization in responding to current challenges in the international arena.
