Allawi: Iraqi security forces unqualified

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqi security forces are still unqualified in its performance, the Head of the Al-Iraqiya List, Iyad Allawi, said on Friday.

“There is a tremendous failure in dealing with security in Iraq, and the country needs a strong government capable of facing security chaos and gaps,” Allawi told the press including Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He attributed recent security improvement to the surge in U.S. force before the withdrawal, in addition to the deployment of Sahwa (Awakening) forces.

“The country’s security is the responsibility of the Interior Ministry’s forces, not the army, but these forces are still unqualified and unable to achieve this mission,” Allawi explained.

He added that national security should rely on the country’s real interests, and that the society should be in peace with itself, without excluding or eliminating anyone.
