I. Introduction
1. In paragraph 6 of resolution 1883 (2009), the Security Council requested the Secretary-General to report to the Council on a quarterly basis on the fulfilment of the responsibilities of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI). The present report is the fourth submitted pursuant to that resolution.
2. The report provides an update on United Nations activities in Iraq since the previous report (S/2010/240), dated 14 May 2010, submitted pursuant to paragraph 6 of resolution 1883 (2009). It provides a summary of key political developments during the period under review, as well as regional and international events concerning Iraq. It also provides an update on the activities of my Special Representative for Iraq, Ad Melkert, as well as operational and security matters.
