KRG Premier, Feltman stress necessity to form government

On Sunday August 15, KRG Premier Dr. Barham Salih met with the assistant secretary of state responsible for the Middle East Jeffrey Feltman and his accompanied delegation in Erbil City in the presence of KRG deputy premier Azad Barwari and the head of KRG foreign relations department.

They discussed the latest political developments in Iraq and the efforts of forming the new government. They stressed the necessity of forming a national partnership government that includes all the Iraqi constituents.
Dr. Barham stressed Kurdistan region’s stance through non-excluding any party and upholding the constitution and the legal rights of the Kurdish people.

Both sides mentioned that the latest parliamentary elections in Iraq were successful and important and said that the wining blocs must take this matter into their consideration through putting their differences aside and working to form the government as soon as possible according to the supreme national interests.

In another part of the meeting, they discussed the bilateral relations between Iraq in general, and Kurdistan region in particular, with the United States and the ways of developing them to increase cooperation and coordination in the political, economic and cultural fields.
