Iraq's Allawi announces sole candidate to head the new government

As a coalition of law announced Iraqi bloc, Iyad Allawi is the only candidate to the presidency of the new government, though he Tbarkh earlier readiness for withdrawal.

The statement noted that the Coordinating Committee of the allied forces in Iraq and voted unanimously at its special meeting Monday to block the nomination of President Iyad Allawi as the sole candidate to assume the presidency of the new government.

He explained that it was due to the privacy conditions that passes on our beloved Iraq and the need for a national figure able to serve the Iraqi people and the promotion of better acquainted and to maintain their interests.

Mr Allawi said earlier his readiness to withdraw his candidacy for the post of prime minister to be nominated another person on the basis of the Iraqi electoral right.
