INA rejects US plan to divide power between Allawi, Maliki
BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Iraqi National Alliance (INA) rejects U.S. plan to divide authority between Ayad Allawi (Al-Iraqiya Alliance) and Nouri al-Maliki (Dawlat al-Qanoon Alliance), said Qassim al-Aaraji, a leading figure of the INA.
“This U.S. plan means that Maliki will get another term in office, while the INA’s stance regarding this issue is clear,” al-Aaraji told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Yet, he said that the National Coalition (Nat'l Coalition: Dawlat al-Qanoon plus INA) has the right to form the new government.
“The NC represents the majority of Iraqis,” al-Aaraji said referring to the Shiite community in Iraq.
But he did not deny the "Possibility" that the NC "Could" collapse, and that the INA "Could" join a coalition with the Al-Iraqiya, nevertheless, it was an out-of-question matter for him that the Al-Iraqiya (a list widely supported by the Sunni community in Iraq) should not get the position of Iraq’s upcoming prime minister.
“Although the Al-Iraqiya insists on its electoral and constitutional rights to form the new government, the INA will not accept to grant it the premiership position,”
