Eid Al Fitr to fall on Sept. 10

ABU DHABI - Friday the 10th of September will be the first day of Eid Al Fitr astronomically in most of the Islamic countries, UAE news agency WAM reported on Sunday, citing Islamic Crescents' Observation Project (ICOP).

Eid Al Fitr is the celebrations marking the end of Ramadan.

Most of the Islamic countries started Ramadan on Aug. 11 and so the 29th day of Ramadan will fall on Wednesday Sept.8, WAM reported citing an ICOP statement.

According to ICOP, sighting of the crescent on Sept. 8 from Asia, Africa and Europe will be not be possible as the moon will set before sunset. So these countries should complete the 30-day month of Ramadan and Eid will be on Friday, Sept.10, WAM reported.
