23 August, 2010Al-Maliki says gov't formation imminent
The prime minister of the interim government, Nouri Al-Maliki, said on Monday formation of the government would be imminent.
A new government will be formed "and matters for its formation are becoming thrashed out, however what's at stake is forming it on sound basis," Al-Maliki said during a meeting with a visiting delegation of US congressmen.
A statement released by the bureau of the premier said Al-Maliki assured the American congressmen about the keenness of Iraq to cement further the relations with Washington. The Iraqi government is keen on promoting the relations with the US in various spheres as well as activating the treaty for strategic framework, he said.
Al-Maliki reiterated the call upon the American companies to take part in the process of construction and investments and support the Iraqi economy.
