Friday 16th July, 2010Hussein territory struck by Iraqi bombers
Iraqi bombs, targeting police in Saddam Hussein's hometown north of Baghdad and a cafe and market south of the capital, have killed many people.
A bomb in Tikrit, the home of the toppled dictator and his family, went off in a busy commercial street, killing six people, including four policemen.
The incident, which was believed to be linked to the March election that produced no outright winner, wounded 14 others.
The bomb caused a lot of damage in the area to shops and other buildings.
Police later swarmed into the area.
In another attack, a bomb in a cafe in the town of Haswa, 50km south of Baghdad, killed six people and wounded eight.
Shortly before that, a bicycle bomb in a marketplace in Mahmudiya, on Baghdad's southern outskirts, killed two people and wounded 10.
