Heads of parliamentary blocs to hold meeting in Erbil23-07-2010
”We called on the winning blocs to resolve the issue of the Parliament Presidency in next session before the end of this month, even if no agreement reached on the Republic and ministers presidencies”, Lawmaker in the Iraqi Parliament Muhammad al-Bayati said In statement to al-Hyatt newspaper.
He added:”Election of Parliament Speaker will pave the way for blocs to reach understands on other posts.”
He clarified that the Constitution does not provide the granting of the Parliament Presidency to the Sunni, the Prime Ministry to the Shiites and the Republic Presidency to the Kurds but this distribution will continue according to the national consensus and the Kurds still adhere the post of the President at present time.
The wining blocs are expected, upon an invitation by the President of Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani, to hold a meeting in Erbil to discuss the formation of the upcoming government.
