Tuesday, July 20th 2010Allawi meets al-Maliki today to discuss the PM issue
Baghdad, "The head of al-Iraqiya, Iyad Allawi, will meet the outgoing Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki today to discuss the PM issue," a member of al-Iraqiya negotiating team said on Tuesday.
"The meeting between al-Maliki and Allawi is surprising, and they will discuss face to face the issue of PM instead of the committees that did not achieve anything so far ... The time and place of the meeting are not announced yet," Kamel al-Dulaimi said today.
"The next four days might result something important," he said, noting that "The media statements and reports issued by MPs who are not within the negotiating committees are inaccurate."
"The meeting between Allawi and al-Sadr in Syria yesterday was positive and important... Allawi and the members of al-Iraqiya list arrived to the capital Baghdad late last night."
"The meeting between al-Maliki and Allawi is done under the time pressure because the extended parliamentary period is about to end."
Allawi met al-Maliki twice during the past period without discussing the prime minister issue and who is most entitled to form the government, but instead they left this issue to the committees that were formed from both sides to address it.
