President Talabani holds talks with Arab League Secretary General

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqi President Jalal Talabani discussed on Monday with Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa in Tripoli the latest developments in Iraq, according to a presidential statement.

“The meeting, held on the sideline of the quintuple summit, tackled also the joint Arab action and the development and restructure of the Arab League,” said the statement received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

The Arab League’s chief Amr Moussa says 14 Arab nations have made proposals to advance Arab co-operation, including plans to turn the 22-member group into a consolidated political union.

Monday’s mini-summit in the Libyan capital Tripoli was attended by the leaders of Egypt, Iraq, Qatar, Yemen and host Libya as well as Moussa.
