Iraq Unity bloc embarks on govt. formation talks with Kurds
SALAH AL-DIN, A member of the Iraq Unity bloc said it would embark Thursday on the first round of official negotiations with the Kurdistan powers to explore opinions and bring views closer so as to form a news government.
“The round would include a meeting in Baghdad between the Iraqi Unity bloc and the Kurdistan powers group. The bloc would be represented by a delegation comprising leader Jawad al-Bulani, Saadoun al-Dulaimi, Sheikh Nawaf al-Djerba and Sheikh Shaalan al-Kareem,” said Shaalan Abduljabbar al-Kareem in statements to Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Kareem, who won a seat in the recent parliamentary elections in the province of Salah al-Din, added the meeting aims to reach realistic understandings to solve the issue of the formation of a national partnership government through the agreement of most winning political blocs.
The Iraq Unity bloc is led by Bulani, the incumbent interior minister, and encompasses the Iraq Sahwa (Awakening) Congress, al-Mithaq Movement and other blocs and figures.
The bloc has won four seats in the March 7 legislative elections: two in Salah al-Din, one in al-Anbar and one in Ninewa.
