Iranian ban on IAEA inspectors violates UN resolutions -- France

The French government warned on Monday that an Iranian decision to block two International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors from going to Iran to do their jobs was not in line with UN resolutions which tell Iran it must cooperate with the IAEA.

"Just like the preceding resolutions on Iran, Security Council Resolution 1929, adopted June 9, called on this country to cooperate fully with the International Atomic Energy Agency," Foreign Ministry spokesman Bernard Valero said in answer to a KUNA question on the subject.

"The announcement by Iran that it is interdicting inspectors to go there is against what is demanded (of it) by the Security Council and the Board of Governors of the IAEA," which is the UN nuclear watchdog, Valero indicated.

"We expect Iran to conform to all of its international obligations and, in particular, that it cooperate fully with the Agency," the spokesman answered.
