June 22, 2010 Government to cut power to Green Zone in Baghdad – oil ministry
BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Oil Minister Hussein al-Shahrestani announced on Tuesday that the Council of Ministers decided to cut power to the Green Zone, ministries, official departments and officials’ houses to save more than 1000 Megawatt to be added to the national network.
“The Council of Ministers decided during its session on Tuesday (June 22) to cut power to the Green Zone during the summer to save 1000 Megawatt which will be added to the national network,” al-Shahrestani said at a press conference, attended by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“These institutions will use generators, to be bought from local markets,” he explained.
