June 11, 2010EU and GCC to endorse Action Plan to boost cooperation
BRUSSELS, The 27-member European Union and the six-member Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will endorse a joint Action Plan during the EU-GCC ministerial meeting in Luxembourg on Monday.
EU sources told KUNA Friday that the three year Action Plan (2010-2013) aims at strengthening ties and cooperation between the two blocs. The Action Plan includes several areas of cooperation such as trade, energy, transportation, telecommunication and culture, said the sources speaking on condition of anonymity.
The EU-GCC meeting will also debate regional issues like Iran's nuclear programme, the Middle East Peace Process and Iraq. The EU and GCC foreign ministers will debate closer engagement, stressed the sources. The meeting will issue a joint communique and hold a press conference after the meeting in Luxembourg on Monday night.
EU foreign ministers meet thrice in Luxembourg in April, June and October and the rest of the year they meet in Brussels.
