June 25, 2010Al-Shahrestani says power production to increase to 250 Megawatt
BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Oil Minister, Hussein al-Shahrestani, who has taken on the electricity portfolio as well after the electricity minister resigned, announced on Friday the increase of the power production to 250 Megawatt and the increase of production from Iran and Turkey.
“We have decided to remove all violations by officials and rich citizens, in cooperation with the armed forces, and we have started from the Green Zone in central Baghdad, in addition to removing the industrial companies’ violations throughout Iraq,” al-Shahrestani said at a press conference, attended by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The Oil Ministry has launched big amounts of gasoil in accordance with the presented requests for the national generators to increase the power production,” he added.
