Vietnam and China have agreed to boost cooperation in various fields, including trade, investment and tourism, and contribute to maintaining stability in the region.
The affirmation came in talks held between Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Chinese President Hu Jintao on Friday as Dung visited Shanghai to attend the opening ceremony of the Shanghai World Expo.
The leaders said friendship and cooperation between the two countries has been growing for the last 60 years and met the aspirations of the people.
They also noted 2010 is a year of great significance as it is the Vietnam-China Friendship Year.
Vietnam and China have targeted a two-way trade turnover of US$25 billion in 2010.
PM Dung praised China for organizing the Shanghai World Expo.
During his trip, which ended Saturday, he also visited two leading Chinese firms - telecommunications equipment manufacturer ZTE Corporation and Shanghai Electric Group Company.
He encouraged Chinese companies to increase investments in Vietnam.
