Talabani seeks Arab support to persuade Allawi to accept the post of vice president in the next government

Cairo (Drabin): Iraqi diplomats in Cairo said on Friday that Iraqi President Jalal Talabani will visit Cairo early next week to meet with President Hosni Mubarak.

The diplomats said that Talabani will hold talks with Mubarak on latest developments in Iraq and efforts exerted to form a new Iraqi government and will compliment Mubarak for his safety after surgery in March last year.

Meanwhile, according to Iraqi sources, Talabani plans to put a proposal appoint former prime minister and head of the list of Iyad Allawi, Iraqi Vice-President of the Republic in the coming Iraqi government as a solution to the crisis that may arise when it is formed by a candidate from the Shiite alliance that was announced last Tuesday.

The sources said that Talabani seeks Arab support to persuade Allawi accepted the job but denied knowledge of whether Talabani will discuss with Mubarak, who has already received Allawi twice during the past few weeks.

The sources said that Talabani Looking demand from the next parliament to endorse the nomination of Allawi, an exception to the Constitution, which does not specify the position of Vice-President of the session, starting the new election.
