EU-GCC MEETING IN BRUSSELS TO DISCUSS BILATERAL TIES, INT’L ISSUES

BRUSSELS, April 11 (NNN-KUNA) — The annual political and economic dialogue between the 27-member European Union (EU) and the six-member Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will take place in Brussels Monday and Tuesday to boost bilateral relations and cooperation.

The spokesperson for the current Spanish EU Presideny, Cristina Gallach, told KUNA that the political dialogue will be held on Tuesday and will be chaired by the Director for General Affairs of the EU Affairs Department at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jose Luis Pardo, and the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait in Brussels, Nabeela Abdullah Al Mulla for the GCC side.

The meeting will discuss bilateral, regional and international affairs in general and also prepare the 20th EU-GCC Joint Council and Ministerial Meeting, foreseen for June 14 in Luxembourg, she added. Kuwait holds the current GCC Presidency.

The economic dialogue will be held on Monday and chaired by the GCC’s General Secretariat which is based in Saudi capital Riyadh while the European Commission will chair the meeting from the EU side.

A big 60-member GCC delegation will be in Brussels to participate in the two-day meetings, Kuwaiti embassy sources told KUNA.

Al Mulla will hold a reception for the GCC delegation Sunday evening. —
