PM Lee to attend Nuclear Security Summit in Washington DC
SINGAPORE : Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will be travelling to the US to attend the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington D.C. from April 12 to 13 at the invitation of US President Barack Obama.
Leaders of 45 countries are expected to attend the summit.
They will discuss the threat of nuclear terrorism and measures that can be taken to reduce the threat.
After Washington, Mr Lee will travel to Chicago from April 14-16 and will deliver a speech at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
During his visit, PM will also be meeting with key political and economic figures in the US.
Mr Lee will be accompanied by Mrs Lee, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Environment Agency.
Mr Lee Lee will be on private leave from April 17-20.
During his absence, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean will be the Acting Prime Minister from April 11-18 and Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng will be the Acting Prime Minister from April 19-20.
