Vietnam president to visit Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, Vietnam president Nguyen Minh Triet is to visit the Kingdom on Saturday (10).

This is the first visit by a Vietnamese leader since official ties were established between the two countries in 1999.

King Abdullah will hold talks with the President in his palace together with relevant ministers.

Elaborate arrangements have been made to receive the Vietnamese President, on par with the reception accorded to the Indian prime minister recently.

King Abdullah and Triet will also witness the signing of two major agreements, which will go a long way in boosting links between Riyadh and Hanoi.

The first agreement is a draft accord for avoidance of double taxation and prevention of tax evasion, which is ready to be linked by the two sides. A protocol between the two countries to boost cooperation in oil, gas and mineral sector will also be signed during the visit.

A statement released on this occasion said that Saudi Arabia has agreed to help Vietnam ensure the energy supplies to meet high demand.

Vietnam in return has great potential to export skilled and unskilled manpower to Saudi Arabia, while it can also help Riyadh to secure food security. At present, the trade between the two countries exceeds US $ 291 million annually.
