Oil and gas exhibition and conference opens in Oman April 11-13

OGWA 2010, one of the largest oil & gas events in the region, will be formally inaugurated on Sunday, April 11, starting at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Seeb for the opening of the technical conference and then at the Oman International Exhibition Centre for the opening of the exhibition.

Organised by Omanexpo, the high-profile event will feature the participation of over 250 exhibiting companies from more than 30 countries worldwide, and hundreds of industry professionals have also signed up as delegates of the accompanying conference, which is organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).

OGWA 2010 is scheduled from April 11 to 13, and it is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Oil & Gas and also supported by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI).

First launched in 1998, the biennial event is now on its seventh edition and it is recognized as one of the most important and prestigious events for the region's vibrant oil & gas industry.

"By bringing together oil & gas companies and industry professionals from within the region and other parts of the world, OGWA serves as an excellent platform for networking, for facilitating business partnerships, and for gaining insights on the major opportunities and important developments in the industry," said Nasser Diab, general manager of Omanexpo, the pioneer exhibition management company in Oman and the premier organizer of professional trade shows in the sultanate.

Diab revealed that the list of exhibitors at OGWA 2010 is spearheaded by national oil & gas companies from the GCC, namely PDO, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO), and Qatar Petroleum (QP).

The strong local and international participation ensures that a wide range of equipment, technologies and services for exploration and production activities will be on display at the OGWA 2010 exhibition. Industry professionals will be able to check out various types of downhole tools, artificial lift systems, pipes and fittings, control systems, gauges and flow measurement instruments, power systems, pressure vessels, separators, pumps and systems, wellhead equipment, valves, casing and tubing, and hundreds of other equipment.

The exhibition timings will be from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm on all days of the event.

In addition to the exhibition, OGWA 2010 will also feature a major technical conference dubbed as The SPE EOR Conference at Oil & Gas West Asia (OGWA).

The conference will bring together global experts to present, share, and discuss their experiences in the implementation of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods and technologies.

It will cover the latest advances in thermal gas and chemical EOR methods, EOR selection criteria, surveillance techniques for locating remaining oil, and drivers and challenges in implementing EOR.

The conference programme will consist of 14 technical sessions, an Executive Plenary Session discussing the theme "EOR Challenges, Experiences and Opportunities in the Middle East," one panel session entitled "Key Issues and Recent Advances in Chemical, Thermal and Gas EOR Technologies," and a poster session, during which 11 posters covering the latest technologies and developments will be showcased.

The OGWA 2010 exhibition is supported by Oman International Bank as the platinum sponsor of the exhibition, ADNOC as the gold sponsor, and the bronze sponsors are International Business Development (IBD) Co. LLC and the Oman International Exhibition Centre.
