Iraq's participation in an international workshop on the peaceful uses of nuclear energy
Iraqi experts were involved in nuclear power and the Ministry of Science and Technology in the International Workshop organized by the Arab League, which began yesterday in Cairo.
The scientific advisor to the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Dr Mahmoud Nasreddine that's workshop entitled "Supporting the culture of security and nuclear safety, infrastructure development and capacity building in the Arab World" aims to develop initiatives to improve and develop centers and networks secure the human and technical resources required for the establishment of infrastructure of nuclear energy and the adoption of universal concepts of a culture of nuclear security in the region. He said that the workshop held in cooperation with the Arab Atomic Energy Agency and the Foundation "Landau" Italian, and comes as part of continuing efforts of the Arab League to promote the principle of peaceful use of atomic energy, as the promise of a step in the implementation of the decisions Arab summits, most recently in Sirte Summit 2010, welcomed the announcement made by some Arab countries to develop national programs to use the techniques Atomic sound.
He added that the workshop aims to develop initiatives to improve and develop centers and networks secure the human and technical resources required for the establishment of infrastructure for nuclear power, and adopt the concepts of a global culture of nuclear security in the Arab world, noting that the capacity-building and infrastructure in the area of security and nuclear safety is an important step, criticizing the presence of large numbers of qualified human cadres in this area without the presence of major Arab nuclear projects for peaceful use of nuclear energy.
