28 April 2010HE Younis Haji Al Khoori, Director General Ministry of Finance will lead the UAE delegation participating in the 33rd Preparatory Meeting for GCC Ministries of Finance on 29th April 2010 that will create the agenda for the 84th Meeting of GCC Financial & Economic Cooperation Commission.
The preparatory meeting will take place at the GCC Secretariat in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and will upgrade UAE's financial relations and strengthen its regional lead in the financial sector.
The UAE delegation will include HE Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Executive Director of International Financial Relations Sector, Majid Ali Omran, Director of Regional & International Financial Relations Department, Ibrahim Hasan Al Jarwan, Director of GCC and Arab Countries Affairs Section. In addition, Abdullah Jassim Al-Shamsi, a Diplomatic Attaché in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nizar Faisal Al Mashaal, Director of Facilities Management and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Economy and Sultan Ahmed Darwish, Director of Trade Negotiations and WTO Department in the Ministry of Foreign Trade will attend.
The preparatory meeting will discuss Supreme Council resolutions on economic affairs of the Qatar Vision to activate the GCC council, the economic aspect of the Qatar Vision, requirements of the GCC Customs Union and joint investment in all sectors, particularly in education and health. It will explore the establishment of a joint development bank.
It will also consider the economic side of the Bahrain Vision to activate GCC council and its proposal to establish a special fund for financial and economic stability. In addition, the meeting will deal with the Supreme Council's decisions in response to the financial crisis and its impact on GCC countries.
"UAE continues to support all financial and economic cooperation amongst the Gulf Cooperation Council and Arab countries as they have a positive impact on public interest and macroeconomics of the member states. We will enhance the role played by Arab economic and financial blocs on the world stage," said HE Younis Haji Khoori, Director General, Ministry of Finance. He praised the efforts of all Member States and functional commissions to organize the preparatory meeting to enhance mutual cooperation and exchange experiences in financial policy and steps taken to confront the global financial crisis.
The meeting will address the Supreme Council's decision on the Advisory Authority report regarding the progress of Gulf Cooperation Countries Council. It will also look to establish a multilateral trust fund to deal with environment issues in the Gulf and discuss reports and records filed by the functional commissions.
"We look forward to achieve the desired positive results from this meeting and take appropriate decisions on key topics for sustainable development," HE Al Khoori concluded.
