SRSG (Melkert) says election results to be announced Thursday morning
BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Special Representative of the Secretary General for Iraq (SRSG), Ad Melkert, said on Wednesday that the preliminary results of the elections will be announced on Thursday morning.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Head of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), Faraj al-Haidari, Melkert said “the IHEC is able to announce the results.”
“It is important that all parties accept the results which are not final, but they must take into consideration that the counting is an honest process,” he said.
