Qatar and Panama signed an agreement yesterday to boost bilateral relations following a round of official talks at the Emiri Diwan chaired by HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and the Panamanian President Ricardo Martinelli.
HH the Emir and the Panamanian president witnessed the signing of the agreement on encouragement and reciprocal protection of investments between the two governments.
During the official talks, the two sides discussed bilateral ties and ways of enhancing them in all fields as well as a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
On the Panamanian side, the talks were attended by Vice-President and Foreign Affairs Minister Juan Carlos, Minister of the Presidential affairs Demetrio Papadimitriu, the Private Secretary to the Panamanian President Adolfo de la Aobario, Private Secretary to the Panamanian President Raul Sandul, Chairman of the Board of Caja de Ahorros Bank Ricardo Francolini and the Consul-General of Panama in Dubai Andreas Beg. A red carpet reception was accorded to the Panamanian president when he arrived at the Emiri Diwan.
Separately, HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani received Panamanian President Ricardo Martinelli.
Talks during the meeting dealt with bilateral relations and means of boosting and promoting them.
HE the Deputy Premier and Minister of Energy and Industry Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah also met President Ricardo Martinelli and the accompanying delegation.
Talks covered key topics of mutual concern especially those related to oil and gas and means of boosting and promoting them.
A number of senior officials of Qatar Petroleum (QP) attended the meeting.
