Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, with an American delegation ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Presidential statement received "morning," a copy of it, he said that during the meeting which took place at the residence of the President of the Republic of Sulaimaniya yesterday, discussing ways of strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States in all fields so as to enhance mutual friendship between the two countries.
The delegation included the U.S., according to the statement, the U.S. ambassador to Iraq, Christopher Hill, top U.S. commander in Iraq General Raymond Odierno, and a number of other officials at the embassy in Baghdad.
The two sides exchanged views on the latest political developments and current challenges and the issue of elections, as well as prospects for the ongoing political process in the country.
For his part, the visiting delegation reiterated U.S. support for the political process and democracy in Iraq, and it will be considered to Iraq with interest, valuing the role of President Talabani's pivotal role in solving problems and reflect the unity in the Iraqi arena.
The meeting was attended by the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Dr. Barham Saleh, Senior Advisor to the President of the Republic Fakhri Karim, in addition to a number of other officials in the Kurdistan region.
In addition, the President congratulated the Greek President Karolos Papoulias on the occasion of National Day of his country.
Talabani said in a telegram of congratulations: "National Day of your country, I am pleased to transmit to your Excellency our sincere congratulations and most sincere blessings, on my behalf and on behalf of the Iraqi people, wishing you good health and good luck to your people further progress and prosperity under your wise leadership."
"I hope that friendly relations and cooperation between our two countries and that the interests of our two friendly countries will evolve and expand thanks to our joint efforts."
He also congratulated President Talabani, President of Bangladesh Mohammad Fazlur Rahman on the occasion of National Day of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
President of the Republic stated in a telegram of congratulations "on the occasion of National Day to your country, I am pleased to send you our sincerest congratulations and best blessings, on my behalf and on behalf of the Iraqi people, wishing you good health and good luck to your people further progress and prosperity under your wise leadership."
He continued: "I take the opportunity to express to you our commitment to strengthen relations of friendship and cooperation between our countries."

Talabani meet U.S. commander, ambassador

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqi President Jalal Talabani on Tuesday held a meeting with the commander of the U.S. forces in Iraq, General Raymond Odierno, and U.S. Ambassador Christopher Hill, according to a presidential statement.
“The meeting, which was held in Sulaimaniya, tackled means of boosting bilateral ties in various domains and the latest political developments in the country,” said the statement received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The visiting U.S. delegation reiterated the U.S. support ti the democratic and political process in Iraq,” the statement added.
“Kurdistan region’s Prime Minister, Barham Saleh, and a number of senior officials in the region as well as official of the U.S. embassy attended the meeting,” it said.
