Iraqi President Jalal Talabani issued a statement and called on the entire candidates to commit to the concepts of democracy and honorable competition, during the electoral campaign, and to distance themselves from anything that harms the national unity.
“Unfortunately, some candidates violate these rules by issuing statements that are considered non-respectful for all religions and confessions. Such statements are constitutionally, religiously and morally refused and represent a violation for the constitution and democracy concepts”, President Talabani said in his statement.
