* Politics:

ARBIL - The Kurdistan regional cabinet has submitted an official proposal to the Iraqi government in Baghdad to solve the issue of oil contracts.

BAGHDAD - Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister Rafie al-Issawi has met with the special representative of the United Nations secretary general for Iraq, Ad Melkert, to discuss the upcoming legislative election and means of consolidating national unity.

* Security:

ANBAR - Unknown gunmen have killed a senior police officer in his house in al-Tameem area, western Ramadi, a local police source said on Monday.

KIRKUK - Kirkuk police forces have arrested a counterfeiter with stamps belonging to state departments in his possession, according to a police commander.

BASRA - Five wanted persons were arrested and an explosive device was defused during search raids in different parts of Basra, a local police source said on Monday.

BAGHDAD - Fifty-one persons were killed or wounded when a female suicide bomber blew herself up in northern Baghdad, an informed source said on Monday.
