Samarai, Odierno discuss security situation in Iraq
Iraqi Parliament Speaker Iyad Samarai, at his office on February 16, received General Raymond Odierno, commander of U.S. forces in Iraq to discuss the security situation in Ninawa and the disputed areas, as well as the reaction of deployment of joint forces from the American side and the Iraqi army and the Peshmerga forces.
According to a statement issued by the Office of the Samarai saying, "the deployment of U.S. and Iraqi forces occurred in some areas where the Peshmerga forces intensively exist in order to create some kind of balance in the region," confirming that this has come according to a joint coordination with the Iraqi Government and the Kurdistan Region Presidency.
Gen. Odierno explained that the project consists of two stages: First is up to the elections, the second will be after the elections, and underway till reaching to a political solution.
