Clinton arrives in Qatar on first leg of Gulf tour14 February, 2010
US State Secretary Hillary Clinton arrived in Qatar on Sunday on the first leg of a Gulf tour that will also take her to Saudi Arabia in search for support for sanctions against Iran.
In Qatar, she is due to meet the emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, and address the seventh edition of the US-Islamic World Forum.
The US chief diplomat’s three-day tour is also aimed at enlisting broader regional support, including Turkey’s, for a tough new round of UN sanctions against Iran over its nuclear programme, her aides said.
