Al-Hashemi arrives in Washington to discuss elections fileFebruary 1, 2010

Iraqi Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi arrived in Washington on Monday to discuss the coming parliamentary elections, and ways to develop relations with the U.S., according to a statement of his office.
“The vice president arrived in Washington in response to an invitation from his U.S. counterpart Joseph Biden to discuss several files, mainly the elections and the recent developments in Iraq,” said the statement received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“Al-Hashemi will meet also with President Barack Obama, Biden, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Defense Secretary Robert Gates,” it added.
