Talabani, al-Hashemi review excluding political blocs from elections
BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqi President Jalal Talabani discussed on Tuesday with his deputy Tareq al-Hashemi the Accountability and Justice Commission on excluding 14 blocs from the upcoming parliamentary elections, a presidential statement said.
“The two officials also discussed the recent political developments in the country,” said the statement received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
On Thursday (Jan. 7), a parliamentary source said that the Accountability and Justice Commission, the revised version of the Debaathification Committee in Iraq, had decided to exclude 14 entities from the election racing for Baath affiliation.
