Senate to vote on Bernanke Friday
WASHINGTON (AFP) - A top aide in the Democratic Party on Tuesday that the Democrats in the U.S. Senate could vote from Friday to ratify the appointment of Ben Bernanke for a second term as president of the Federal Reserve.
The aide said he was not a decision but on Friday a possible date and that the Democrats in the Senate would like to pay the appointment as soon as possible.
While reservations about a number of members of the Council on the nomination of Bernanke is expected to succeed, Democratic leaders in the mobilization of the necessary sixty votes in the 100-seat of the ratification of the appointment.
Bernanke faces a high level of opposition is unusual, reflecting the reaction to the painful financial crisis and anger at the government's rescue programs for large financial institutions amid rising levels of unemployment and imprisonment of mortgages.
