GCC summit brings to minds major Arab role of Kuwait -- official

AMMAN, Nov 25 (KUNA) -- Jordanian Minister of Information and Communication Affairs Nabil Al-Sharif said the convening of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit brings back to the minds the major role long played by Kuwait through playing host to a lot of previous Arab summits that boosted the inter-Arab reconciliation and healed rifts among the Arab brothers.
Al-Sharif added in a special statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the 30th summit of the GCC, due in Kuwait in the middle of the next month, is certainly an assertion of the unity of the Arab gulf system in a way that boosts the Arab role in general.
Al-Sharif has stressed the importance of the upcoming GCC summit saying that, "The topics on the summit's agenda are so important as they have a paramount economic and strategic dimension" like the joint electric grid project, the GCC single currency and a number of important strategic projects that help connect and integrate the interests of the Gulf states in all fields.
Within this context, Al-Sharif said that, "We should talk now according to the logics of interests because states adhere to the logics of interests and to do what best serve their peoples, welfare and defend them and they endeavor to achieve their goals by all means."
The top information Jordanian official concluded saying, "The distinctive performance of the GCC is a model that should be imitated in the Arab action that depends on the unity of past, present and future and the common interests in all fields."
