Putin sends message to his Iraqi counterpart on economic cooperation

MOSCOW, Oct 8 - Moscow announced on Thursday that Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sent a letter to his Iraqi counterpart Nouri al-Maliki on strengthening bilateral cooperation in economic and other fields.
A Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko said during a press conference here today that the Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Alexander Sultanov conveyed the message during a meeting in Baghdad yesterday with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.
He added that Sultanov held talks with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari adding no further details on the substance of the message. It should be noted that Russia is trying to return back to Iraq to participate in the implementation of huge oil projects.
The Russian experts are working on the reconstruction of many of the establishments, particularly power stations. The Iraqi government has promised to provide equal terms to all foreign companies, including the Russian wishing to participate for the implementation relating to prospecting and extraction oil in Iraq.
