SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Egypt, Oct 14 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Interior Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Khalid Al-Sabah emphasized here Wednesday more support was required for Iraq's security and stability.
Addressing the ongoing sixth meeting of Iraq's neighboring countries' interior ministers, which kicked off in Egypt's Red Sea Sharm El-Sheikh resort earlier in the day, the Kuwaiti minister said supporting Iraq's security would surely have favorable reflections on regional security and stability. But, he voiced confidence that Iraqi security forces could overcome security problems in their country and impose the rule of law in order to create stability and security in the whole of the country and to push forward the development process.
"Out of its deeply rooted belief in all-out regional and international security and its commitment to the security cooperation protocol between Iraq's neighboring countries and the Republic of Iraq, Kuwait is resolutely seeking to build the basics of good neighborliness (with Iraq), to support common cooperation in all fields and to provide every possible support for our brothers in Iraq," the minister said.
He reiterated his ministry's keenness on controlling the border with Iraq by means of providing frontier centers with all required technological means. The interior minister is leading the Kuwaiti delegation participating in the Sharm El-Sheikh gathering.
For his part, Saudi Interior Minister Prince Naif bin Abdelaziz hoped that Iraq could restore its unity and territorial integrity.Addressing the meeting, he wished that the conferees could come up with recommendations and resolutions that could fulfill the expectation of the Iraqi people for the common good of Iraq and its neighbors.
More concerted efforts ought to be exerted to meet challenges and changes in Iraq and the entire region, he urged.
