President Jalal Talabani meets with Vice President, Biden



His Excellency President Jalal Talabani, in the city of Arbil afternoon Thursday, 17/9/2009, U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden and his accompanying delegation.

At the beginning of the meeting, welcomed the President a warm welcome guest, and they discussed the strong bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States and ways of strengthening and cementing, as well as to exchange views on the latest political developments and security in Iraq.

President Talabani and talked about the importance of the upcoming elections in Iraq, which counted Bamufsalip for the whole political process and tracks the future, referring to the hot consultations and meetings now taking place between the blocks and various Iraqi factions in preparation for the next battle of democracy in the country.

During the meeting, and also exchange views on oil and gas law and the subject of Kirkuk, where he explained to President Talabani, Vice President obstacles that impede the adoption of this law.

And in respect of Kirkuk, His Excellency the renewed emphasis on the need to resort to the Constitution and Article (140), which represents a reasonable road map to resolve this issue.

And on the political process in the country, President Iraq's need to establish a national consensus and genuine participation of all actors on the Iraqi arena.

And over U.S. Vice-President thanked the great President Talabani for the warm reception and praised the wise leadership of the new Iraq.

At the end of the meeting reiterated the two sides reaffirmed the importance of bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States and the need to expand and develop to ensure the common interests of the peoples and promoted the two countries.
